Maritime Container Transportation
With the development of international trade, the need for the realization of logistics processes in a smooth, undamaged and reliable manner is increasing day by day. Compared to the past years, the number of companies that provide professional logistics services to these businesses is increasing along with the number of businesses interested in international trade, which leads to an increase and diversification of the amount of cargo transported. Therefore, not only the logistics services offered, but also the equipment and vehicles used in providing this service are of great importance.
Especially with the importance of door-to-door transportation, which is called “door to door”, container transportation is often preferred in order for any cargo to reach from the point of origin to the destination in a practical, fast and economical way. Containers, which save both time and money during the handling phase, allow the transportation of different product groups and can be used many times, are preferred in 85% of international maritime transportation.
It is possible to categorize containers, which are defined as “large crates made according to international standards to carry various goods” in Logistics in TDK as a dictionary meaning, according to the material they are produced, their usage areas and their intended use. The international standards mentioned in this definition are the International Organization for Standardization, defined as ISO. If we elaborate a little more on container types;

CONTAINER TRANSPORTATION TYPES
Today, there are two important options in container transportation, which is used as one of the most common logistics services in international trade. Full Container (FCL) and Partial Container (LCL) transportation. If the cargo you want to transport can fill a 20 ft or 40 ft container on its own, then this is classified as a complete container, i.e. FCL transportation service. However, if your cargo cannot fill a single container, then you need to share a container with two or more consignees, which is called partial container transportation, LCL transportation.
